Wild Health
Dr. Dawson, if only we could clone you. The energy, smarts, passion, communication skills—this guy pretty much has it all. At least via email, as far as I can tell. I’ve written about him twice now and hope to continue following his career.
Matt Dawson, M.D. is a medical doctor and entrepreneur. One of his latest ventures is Wild Health, a genomics-based medical company.
In 2017 he purchased the Kentucky Castle, a landmark that’s more than a tourist attraction. Dawson recently promoted himself to Chief Farming Officer. “I'm a physician who wants to be a farmer when he grows up,” he said, “and my main interest in the castle was the farm and being able to highlight it. We wanted to teach people where their food comes from by growing and showing on site where we get the food for the restaurant. That's still a work in progress as it's hard to make trees grow faster and change the landscape, but we're committed to it and we're making progress. We now own the farm behind the castle and 110 acres in total. We have a very large garden, sheep, goats, chicken, bees, and we're adding more animals and food next year (2022).”
In 2019 he founded Wild Health, a potentially world-changing company. “Wild Health was created when we saw all the science emerging about genomics and how we could truly practice personalized medicine by looking as deeply as an individual's genomics, but no one was doing it,” he said. “Once we sequenced our DNA and dug in, we solved some difficult medical problems for ourselves. Then we did the same for friends and family, and eventually we became convinced this is how medicine should be practiced in the future, and we left our University jobs to start this company. Since then, we have treated thousands of patients and the results we've gotten have been unheard of. Because of those results we have been able to partner with some very big organizations. We recently launched a national partnership with CrossFit and have other organizations that we're launching national and international projects with to use our technology and science.”
So yeah. Wow.
